Not to long ago, I wrote a post entitled 10 WordPress plugins all blogs should use, where I covered what I feel are the 10 most important WordPress plugins. One of the plugins that didn’t quite make the list is a good feed plugin which allows you to place messages at the bottom of your feed. These types of plugins are very valuable for just about any feed as they easily allow you to place a copyright notice on your feed, sell advertising, or promote content on your site.
There are several plugins that allow you to easily do this. The most popular one is probably the RSS Feed Signature (formerly known as Sig 2 Feed) plugin which allows you to place just about anything you want below your feed. My preference, on the other hand, is for the Feed Footer plugin, which includes all of this and the ability to rotate between up to 10 different pre-established footers for your feed. This way you can mix up your feed messages, or promote several different sections or posts from your website without overdoing it.
If you use or plan to use the Feed Footer plugin, I’d like to hear what types of things you will be including in the footers of your feeds. Affiliate links? Promote your archives?
