WordPress Plugin: Randomizing Banners
September 5th, 2007
If you’ve ever participated in a Group Writing Project, such as the ones done at ProBlogger and Daily Blog Tips, you might have noticed the importance of getting your link towards the top of the project. Studies have shown that getting your link towards the top can result in three to four times the number of clicks over being one of the really low links in the project.
Like writing projects, advertising works in the same way. Being the top Text Link Ad, or being the top banner, can generate a lot more viewing and more traffic than being the fourth or fifth advertisement. The problem is, they all cost the same price, but don’t necessarily all provide the same value.
In order to give your advertisers an equal value, Got Chance created a plugin called Got Banners. This plugin allows you to use an unlimited number of banners and alternate the order that the banners are displayed each time your site refreshes. It appears that this can also be used to alternate affiliate banners. So far, the only requirement is that the banners be the same size.

This is a great plugin. Plus if banners move it might also increase clicks because the ads do not look exactly the same each time a visitor reloads.
Gnomey – I couldn’t agree more. Now comes the tricky part of finding advertisers…..
