I know this isn’t a subject I touch on to much on this blog because I have a minimal amount of experience in selling developed/established websites, but I do find it fascinating and I know that it can be a great way to generate revenue.

For those unaware, Ben over at Blogging Experiment recently sold his blog to pursue other “projects” (who ever sells a blog for any other reason?  :D ).   Based upon the concept the blog was founded on, this decision makes sense.   But who wants to buy a blog that is an experiment, especially when it is part of the domain name?

Max and his partner decided to, and Max is already making waives with the Blogging Experiment readers.   He brings a different perspective than Ben did and I can already tell that he has a lot of unique takes to offer us.

One thing that caught my eye was his recent post What Buyers of Websites are Looking For, where he explains what things he factors into determining the value of a website.   I’ve seen many people offer their perspective in this area, but usually that is from the seller’s point of view.  Buyers are generally more tight-lipped because they specialize in purchasing a site, improving it quickly, and flipping it for tremendous profits.

If this is something that interests you, I recommend you check out Max’s post.

  1. I don’t know if I could ever build something up and then sell it off after putting so much time and work into it. But maybe I should revisit this thought when I actually have something worth selling. (#):)

  2. The information and the money the website makes.
