While its been a relatively uneventful week online, I’ve had a pretty busy week setting up some friends on WordPress and finishing up another project I have been working on. I’m just now catching up on my feeds and found a few great posts that I thought I would share with my readers:

  • If you are a WordPress user, you may want to take note of Mashable’s PHP Toolbox, which includes more than 20 PHP code resources. I’m always on the lookout for interesting PHP code snippets and little tweaks I can make to improve my websites, so I found this pretty useful.
  • Sarah at BlueJar has posted a great guide explaining how to position your photos or images using CSS.  Positioning of photos can be a great way to improve the appearance of your blog.
  • Geeks Are Sexy is holding a “How-To” contest for geeks. In order to enter, you have to write a how-to post that will be published on their blog. The prizes look pretty good, and you could probably get some good exposure for your website (it doesn’t mention if the author will get a link in their post).
  • The Marketing Pilgrim has posted 10 Reasons You Should be Using Thunderbird. I switch between Thunderbird and Microsoft Outlook regularly, but anyone that doesn’t have Outlook should be using Thunderbird, especially if you prefer the additional features of managing your e-mail from your desktop.
  • Serverdome did an interesting study of full time bloggers and their ad space used. The results probably won’t be shocking, with many having close to 25% of their content above the fold displaying some sort of ad or donate button.
  • Garry Conn gives an alternative method for using search on your blog. This is an interesting way to integrate search into your blog’s theme without much work.
