Ahh, July 7th.   What a great day!  Today is my birthday, but possibly more exciting is the arrival of UFC 73 pay-per-view that I’ve been anticipating for a couple months now.  Will Rashad Evans stay undefeated?  I’m a Tito Ortiz fan, but I believe Evans will pull this one out.   There are also a few belts up for grabs, so this could possibly be the best UFC pay-per-view yet!

Anyway, back to the topic of this site, here are some great posts from around the blogosphere:

  • Mashable takes a look at 10 Markets Google is trying to win.   I think this post may illustrate better than any I’ve yet to see just how dominant Google is in pretty much everything they are involved in.  I would say that Blogger is very serviceable for being free, but needs a lot of improvements before it could be truly dominant.   I would also like to see some more attention applied to Google Talk, which is now competitive with its competition, but not as good as it could be.
  • Andy Beard takes a look at the BlogCatalog updates, which is probably MyBlogLog’s biggest competitor.  I haven’t signed up with BlogCatalog yet, but have given it some thought.   I’ve seen a few bloggers that I read regularly using there services.
  • Scott Hanselman’s ComputerZen.com provides a definitive guide to migrating to Google Apps from Gmail, Thunderbird, Outlook, and others.   Very useful guide.
  • Shankar Ganesh gives 3 tips to making your Wordpress blog more search engine friendly.   Dosh Dosh offers instructions and plugins on how to survive a category and permalink overhaul.
  • Matt Huggins offers 55 essential articles every serious blogger should read.   I’ve only had time to read a few, but this is a nice blogger resource.
  • CyberNet offers some fun Opera facts.  I think this shows how great the Opera team is.
  • Smashing Magazine offers 80+ Usable and Elegant Designs.   Yet another great list of Wordpress themes with pictures.

Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday!
