How To: Get a Nice Feed Icon For Your Blog
September 29th, 2007
Have you ever noticed that most blog’s tend to come with that standard orange RSS feed icon on there blog? Even custom WordPress Themes will come with the boring orange RSS feed logo. Some people might feel that using a standard orange feed icon makes it easy for readers to find your feed, but I prefer to keep the blog’s look as clean and polished as possible, by using a feed icon that is appropriate for my site’s theme.
Previously, this required the use of a digital image editor such as Adobe Photoshop or The GIMP, but thanks to Feed Icons, you now have an easy way to get a feed icon that matches the look of your blog.
Feed Icons now offers large downloadable packages of a wide variety of feed icons to choose from. You can get a large number of colors, or if you are a developer, one of their packages includes a variety of sizes, as well as colors, to choose from. You can also get them in all sorts of formats, including the developer’s favorite .gif format!
If you need coding help, they provide some additional information in their coding help section to assist you in displaying your feed icon how you want on your blog.
Update:Â I just noticed that Design Bliss just posted over 35 different styles of RSS icons, which is a great post showing some variable RSS icons.

My experience tells me that “Feed Icons” are just a craze and can be used to beautify your blog
Though they do not tend to increase your potential subscribers (Indeed thats a very bitter fact)
Nice find Kyles, I would defnitely pick one of these to match my blog now. I had been on the lookout for something like this
Great find buddy. Most of them look really good.
The site has got a nice collection . Great tip .
The ones from Design Bliss are a lot better than the other site. They offer a lot of different looks to the standard orange icon, which is good. I think every site should use the orange icon because of its universal symbolism, but as long as it is the same color scheme I think it is okay.
Nice find Kyle!
Ryan – I agree! Unfortunately, my post above was published before the one by Design Bliss, so I just threw the link in as an update.
That is easy for you to say, your theme looks good with orange! hehe
