Google Acquires Feedburner for $100 Million
According to TechCrunch, Google has continued their spending spree, this time on the popular feed service Feedburner.Â
Rumors about Google acquiring RSS management company Feedburner from last week, started by ex-TechCrunch UK editor Sam Sethi, are accurate and are now confirmed according to a source close to the deal. Feedburner is in the closing stages of being acquired by Google for around $100 million. The deal is all cash and mostly upfront, according to our source, although the founders will be locked in for a couple of years.
The information we have is that the deal is now under a binding term sheet and will close in 2-3 weeks, and there is nothing that can really derail it at this point.
If you’re a fan of Google, or Feedburner for that matter, this is great news.  If history has shown us anything, pretty much everything Google touches turns to gold. Because Feedburner was already gold in most users minds, would this now make it platinum?
It will be exciting to see how Feedburner continues to improve with Google backing it.Â

Hopefully we’ll now have more options to monetize an rss feed.

At this rate, Google would soon own the Internet

I wish Google would had spent some of there money on Flickr, but Feedburner is a good choice too.

I can’t believe google, they are buying everything. This could end up being a good thing or a horrible thing.
