Firefox 3 Alpha 4 Now Available

According to CyberNet News, it looks like Firefox 3.0 has made Alpha 4 available for download.   Unfortunately, the much anticipated Places feature is still not included, causing people to speculate that Firefox 3.0′s final release will not be ready until early 2008.

As a quick side note, it looks like Alpha 5 is available at the end of May, then hopefully we can start moving towards the release candidates.

As a big fan of Firefox, this is great news. My switch to Firefox as my primary browser coincided with my start in blogging. Since then my interest in it has expanded even further. That said, I’ve been seeing some odd things here and there related to code being potentially scrambled by Firefox. I’ve experienced this now with both Adsense code and lately with Youtube video code. I’m still not quite sure what this is about but do recall seeing an article or two alluding to some problems with Firefox translating special characters(?). Hopefully, this will be one of the things resolved going forward. Interestingly enough, I’ve yet to see this sort of behavior in IE.

    Robert,

Are you taking advantage of Firefox extensions? Some of these have been known to interfere with Firefox a bit. Also if you use Greasemonkey scripts, they could be causing you some problems.

In fact I am Kyle. I’ll take a look at these. I’m currently using far fewer than I typically do since the job just gave me a Lenovo T60 – quite nice. I haven’t had a chance to clog its arteries yet but I’m working on it. :)
