Ahhh, Paypal. One of my favorite online services. What originally started as a companion for eBay to oversee the auction payment transactions has since developed into an almost all purpose tool for exchanging money online. Blogs use Paypal to receive advertising payments, domainers use it to buy/sell domain names, and many affiliates use it to make/receive payments.
With Paypal’s expanded services they offer come several new Paypal tools, which were recently covered over at MakeUseOf.com in their post about 9 tools Paypal users should know about. You’ll find all sorts of great tools, ranging from WordPress plugins, mobile services, and more!
Do You Still Use Facebook?
Today I noticed an interesting post over at Webware, which talks about a planned face lift for Facebook. In looking at the screenshots provided, I really don’t see a major difference in the look of the site, but it will be nice to have the wall in its own tab.
While looking over the photos, I realized that I haven’t logged into Facebook in awhile. I’ve probably logged in twice in the past 2 months, mostly for maintenance purposes (approve friends, check wall, etc.). Do you find that you still use Facebook? Or has it lost most of it’s appeal?
How To: Redirect A Feedburner Feed to Another Feedburner Feed
If you decide to switch domains, or just want to use a new Feedburner URL for your feed, there is a way to make the switch while making it as easy as possible for your subscribers to make the transition.
Feedburner has a built in Feedburner redirect that anyone can use with the following easy steps:
- Create your new Feedburner feed.
- Click the feed you want to delete.
- Click Edit Feed Details.
- Enter the URL for the new Feedburner feed in the source feed field.
- Click Save.
- Now Delete this feed and enable 30 day redirection.
This will cause the old feed to show the same content as your new feed for 15 days. For the remaining 15 days your feed will then display a message to your subscribers on your old feed prompting them to now subscribe to the new feed (which it provides).

As a long time online gamer, I speak d00d speak very well. So do most kids under age 16, whether they play online games or just use it for instant messages and e-mails. However, not everyone knows what “Woot” means or how to appropriately abbreviate your words.
This is where the AOLer translator steps in to bridge that language barrier between you and your kids! Simply type what you want to say, click the Translate! button, then copy and paste the provided text into your instant message, e-mail, or whatever.

Do You Have a Globally Recognized Avatar?
Do you have a Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar)?
As a loyal fan of the WordPress software that runs each of my weblogs, I feel that it is important to support WordPress in any way that I can. A couple of days ago I announced some big changes to the theme here at Kyle’s Cove, and probably the biggest change of them all was my switch from the MyAvatars plugin to displaying Gravatars with post comments.
You may remember that last October Automattic, the company behind WordPress, purchased Gravatar. In the time since, they have revamped the infrastructure of Gravatar to drastically speed things up, integrated it into the WordPress.com platform, and then updated the Gravatar WordPress plugin.
Now that Automattic is supporting it, I think that over time Gravatars will continue to grow and the service will get better, so it is with that decision that I decided to make that switch over to using Gravatar images on this blog.
If you don’t already have one, I recommend you sign up with Gravatar for a free account and then upload the avatar you want to use. Once done, you can leave a comment below to test it out and see if it works. You’ll need to use the e-mail address used for your Gravatar in the e-mail address field of the comment form (all lower case).
MySpace Private Pictures Aren’t Exactly Private
It is always risky to upload your personal pictures on to someone else’s servers, but private pictures are exceptionally risky. You are somewhat at the mercy of what that person or company does with the pictures.
For whatever reason, MySpace and Facebook users don’t seem to understand this, so they upload all sorts of pictures that are probably better left on their hard drive and out of the public eye. My general rule is if you don’t want family and even potential employers seeing these pictures, then you probably shouldn’t upload them.
One service that proves it can be done is MySpace Private Profile. Simply visit a MySpace page and grab their ID number, then punch it in on this site and you can view all of their private pictures. I tried it twice before writing this post and it works flawlessly. In the two private MySpace pages I visited I saw pictures of underage girls passed out holding alcohol and something else that I will leave up to the imagination.
Moral of the story? Don’t upload anything that would embarrass you on to the internet.
