About a week ago, I moved over to the new site my post explaining how to Add a Search Engine to your Blog by providing the exact code needed to add a search engine to your website or blog.

Thanks to a comment tip from Sandy over at Purple Wren, I was pointed towards Blogbar, which is kind of a one stop shop for your search engine needs. They simply provide you some code to place on your website and you’re all done.

With the code your readers will get a search field and a drop down box that lets you pick which search engine you wish to use. Readers can choose from the following search engines to use for their search:

  • Google
  • Yahoo
  • MSN
  • Ask Jeeves
  • Icerocket
  • Technorati
  • Feedster

Two nice features are the ability to integrate your AdSense code into the search engine to help generate some income, and you can choose from 5 colors to help it blend nicely into your website. You can choose from Purple, Blue, Silver, Red, and Orange.

My preference is still with the live search offered through some Wordpress themes (like the one I am currently using for this site), or using your AdSense account to build your search engine right into its own page on your blog, but Blogbar is a lot easier to set up and very efficient at what it does.

If your website needs a search, I recommend checking it out!
