Over the last few months, Facebook has received a lot of praise for creating a Facebook platform that allows anyone to create Facebook applications for their popular social service. It has become so popular that there are currently close to 2,000 Facebook applications available to add to your profile. With this many applications available, the good ones can easily get lost in a sea of random or just plain worthless applications.

This post is an attempt to collect and display the best of these applications, broken down into categories for easy navigation:

  • SkypeMe – Allows you to make Skype calls from your Facebook page.
  • Twitter – Update your Twitter status from your Facebook page.
  • Wikipedia – Allows you to search Wikipedia from your profile.

- Storage -

  • Files – Integrates Box.net storage on to your profile page.

- Video -

  • Video – Adds video and gives you the option to record from a webcam.
  • YouTube Skins – Allows you to display and share YouTube videos with your friends.

- Writing -

  • Zoho – Gives you the ability to create and edit your Zoho documents from your Facebook page.
  • MyLists – Allows you to create lists and share them with others.

If you’re unable to find ones you are looking for, this list will be updated regularly as more useful applications are created or existing ones are improved and are worth a spot on this list.
