Over the past few months I have done a popular series of posts about adding various search engines to your website. Having a search engine on your blog is a must have for any serious blogger. The average blog will usually keep roughly 5-10 posts available on their front page, which can make finding specific posts a hassle.

Luckily, there are several types of search engines that can be built into your blog with a minimal amount of effort. Here is a compliation of them for easy reference.

Google Search Code

Yahoo Search Code

MSN Search Code

Technorati Search Code

This will enable people to search Technorati from your website. It also includes the ability to use a Keyword or a URL, giving your website all the functionality of Technorati.

Del.icio.us Search Code

Its important to note that the Del.icio.us search uses the logged in users information, so if you search for a particular tag, it will show you any tags you have saved under your name, and also any other ones.

If you would prefer to have a select box on your website that the user can choose between Your Bookmarks, Del.icio.us, or World Wide Web, then you will want to use this code:

This will add a select box, giving the searcher more options.

BlogDigger Search Code

FreeFind Search Code

Adding a Rollyo Search Engine

Here are the steps for adding Rollyo onto your website:

  1. Create your own Searchroll
  2. Once created, click Put a Search Box on your Site (upper middle of screen)
  3. Type your websites name and URL, then click Add Site
  4. Paste code into your website’s sidebar (Typepad users: You can install using a Typepad Widget)

You will want to make the appropriate adjustments to any of the above codes in order to fit your new search engine into your website. The information inside brackets is the information you need to fill in about your blog. The size and length can be adjusted to fit into your sidebar (or wherever you have placed your search engine). If you would like to alter the background color, you will just need the appropriate HTML color code (insert where the bold code is for black) and add to the search engine code the following:

AKPC_IDS += "14,";
