A Comprehensive Guide to StumbleUpon

People often ask where I find a lot of the great work I link to on this site. Many people believe its Digg, Del.icio.us, or some other social networking site. Well, it is sort of a social networking site, but its none of those. I use StumbleUpon to stumble upon a lot of the best stuff being written around the web. I guess you could say I’m addicted! ![]()
If you aren’t familiar with StumbleUpon, I recommend checking out this Comprehensive Guide to StumbleUpon written by Maki over at Dosh Dosh. From there, if it sounds interesting, just download the Internet Explorer toolbar or Firefox toolbar and enjoy!

I finally joined SU yesterday.
I must say the sites that I stumbled upon are pretty good.
One thing that I didn’t like is the toolbar installation part (I have to install SU on all the computers/browsers). I also found that the sign-in/changing password process is a little buggy.

Andy,
Why do you have to install it on every browser/computer? I suppose if your going to use it like a social bookmarking service, then you would want quick and easy access
I just use it to find quality content around the internet in my pre-designated categories which works great. I only leave it installed on one computer, in my Firefox browser.
The sign-in process is indeed buggy, which would drive me crazy if I had multiple accounts.

LOL,
I use two computers @ home and also install SU in the computer @ work. Install it on Firefox and IE because I use both (yes, quite messy sometimes). Hopefully it would move to web based in the future.

I don’t mind StumbleUpon. It’s definetly an easy way to lose a few hours without noticing.
I haven’t had much luck getting traffic from there though.
Dan.

Dan1el,
Great point! I do lose track of time when clicking on my siebar!
I’m not sure the secret to getting traffic. I’ve had a few articles get a lot of traffic, but a few others not get much if any at all. If anyone knows the secret (without paying them for the traffic), please post it below!
