Technology Talk – 10/14/2007
October 14th, 2007
Lots of interesting stuff being talked about around the blogosphere this week. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Shankar Ganesh teaches us how to make defragmenting faster with Power Defragmenter. When i’m teaching friends and family how to use this tool, they often get frustrated with how long it takes to complete. I think I will start installing this tool for them.
- Web Worker Daily shows us how to Sync your Google Calendar and Contacts with Microsoft Outlook. Google Calendar is slowly taking over the web-based calendar business, so its nice to see how easy it is to sync with those of us that love desktop-based e-mail client.
- Shankri-La provides us with 15 Google Greasemonkey scripts. Included are great scripts for GMail and Google Reader.
- Nirmal has posted a complete list of Yahoo! Mail shortcuts. I know I have a few readers that prefer Yahoo! Mail, so hopefully you find this useful.
- Madhur explains how to do group chat in Google Talk. I’m a Google Talk user, so I found this post very useful.
- Ryan covers a new feature in Places that he calls Smart Folders. Places is a much anticipated feature in Firefox 3.0 that Firefox users are going to love.
- MakeUSEOf has posted 6 free office suites that are NOT Microsoft. As Microsoft continues to focus on other projects, many of these free alternatives are slowly catching up to them, so it is important to monitor the progress of these free alternatives.

Thanks for linking to my post, Kyle. Glad that it was useful to you
