Technology Talk – 08/06/2007
August 6th, 2007
Wow, I’m hopefully on the back-end of possibly the worst flu I have ever experienced, which caused me to not even feel up to accessing my computer for the past few days. If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, hopefully that is a good enough explanation. I have quite a few e-mails that I need to go through, so here are a few links to tide you over in the meantime:
- Lord Matt offers Some SEO Basics and Alexa Rank Mistakes. In the post Matt gives some information about Alexa redirecting, among other things, which has been a much talked about topic on this site.
- Mark talks about Blue Vertigo, which is one-stop resource for images and fonts. Definitely a site to bookmark for future reference.
- Hongkiat gives us 26 sites that pay you to write for them. Included are sites like ReviewMe and Sponsored Reviews, plus a lot of sites you probably haven’t ever heard of.
- Lifehacker.biz offers a comprehensive list of some of the Best Open Source Software available. Open source is a wonderful thing and it is great to see all these companies taking advantage.
- GHacks gives us 35 Extensions for Thunderbird users. This is a useful list with a lot of extensions, but may be a little bloated. I’ve found in my experience that there are only 5 or so extensions that are worth using if you use Thunderbird in most situations.
- Web Worker Daily gives us 8 Tips to Make the Most of Microsoft Outlook. If you use Microsoft Outlook as your primary e-mail client, this is a must-read article.
- Ryan talks about the now available Firefox 3.0 Alpha 7 web browser.  It looks like most of the changes are geared towards improving performance.  I typically don’t recommend the average user begin beta testing a new browser until the Beta 2 phase, but it is always fun to monitor what is in store for us! Especially the much anticipated Places feature.
- Mashable covers a new Firefox Facebook application which allows users to display their favorite Firefox Add-ons.

Wow. Glad to hear you’re doing better buddy. As soon as I start feeling sick, it’s a healthy regiment of NyQuil and TheraFlu for me. But yeah man, stay strong and if you need to me to run to the store for you, you got it. (#):)
Thanks for the mention, Kyle.
Glad to hear you’re feeling better.
I hope you make a full recovery, and I hope AdSense blesses you with $1,000 extra dollars so you can feel better!
Thanks everyone for the well wishes
Today has been much better. The worst part was my wife was also sick, so we had to find someone to watch the 6 month old and the 4 year old all day Sunday.
Coolio – $1,000 extra AdSense dollars would go a long way towards making me feel better
Glad to hear you feeling better. I’ve just caught a cold… ahh… I hate it.
Good to hear you are well now! I was wondering about the posts though..
Plus, a nice list of material to read!
Nice to hear you feel better Kyle. I like the SEO article link you have on here. SEO is something I am very interested in.
The flu I had has been making its way around the Des Moines area, so I’m glad I’ve got it over with.
Art – Yes, I really like it as well. I’ve been learning a lot about SEO lately, and the one thing I noticed the most I think is just how important it actually is. A blog can be successful without it, but it can be so much more successful with it.
