MyBlogLog To Remove Animated Avatars
Posted by Kyle Eslick on April 14th, 2007 | Category and Tags
It looks like the complaints have finally added up over at MyBlogLog. According to Eric, they are set to remove all animated avatars next weekend.
That means if you have an animated avatar, you have one week to change it to a static image or else you will be subject to the “wheel of chance”, where they will randomly select a static image of your avatar to replace your animated image.
I think this is a good move.  The animated avatars were distracting and even annoying at times. Now if only we could get more control over the inappropriate images (its amazing how many supermodels use MyBlogLog, isn’t it?) that often show up on MyBlogLog widgets.

You don’t see a need for removing the avatars or see a for people to have animated avatars?

It seems like a good idea to kill off the animated site avatars/images. Looks like MBL is pressing hard on fighting spam.

I am going to have an avatar to re-do!

I’m not sure if this is a need or not, but they can be distracting at times on the widgets most people have on their sites.
Either way, its being done based off customer complaints (as far as I can tell), so in that sense it is necessary because they want to keep their customers.

Kyle, I agree with that… no matter what, it’s going to happen. But I am curious to find out the number of people who complained compared to the new number of people who are complaining about the decision?
Might prove to be a good new poll for Kyle’s Cove.
