When you’ve been blogging for as long as I have, sometimes the days can seem to run together you can lose site of your blogging roots.  This blog started as a personal journal of sorts, and to this day still remains as a place where I can document and talk about my experiences blogging and making money online.  At the same time, this blog has continued to evolve in to so much more than I originally envisioned for it, so some times it is fun to stop and enjoy the various blogging milestones that you are fortunate to achieve.

Feedburner CountI noticed it was going to happen soon earlier this week, but today it finally happened.  I was excited to log in to my Feedburner account this morning and see that this blog has finally reached that next major blogging milestone of 500 subscribers.  Unforatunately this blog isn’t big enough yet to offer a bunch of prizes, so a simple ‘Thank You!’ to my subscribers will have to do.

I think 500 subscribers is a significant mark for a blog because it tends to be the benchmark for when advertisers will start to take your blog more seriously and consider purchasing advertising.  It also seems to be the magic number for some subscribers who want to see a significant following developed before they subscribe to a blog’s feed.

So, what is the next milestone?   Many would probably guess that I’m going to say to improve my unique visitors each day, but I’m going to stay true to this blog’s roots and focus on getting to 1,000 subscribers, because those are the regular readers/commentators that make blogging worth it each day.  Unique visitors are great to have and to show advertisers, but they aren’t the ones actively reading and participating in your website.

What blogging milestone are you actively pursuing?
