Collection of Blog Directories
February 14th, 2008
If you’ve ever made a run at niche blogging or keyword sniping, you’ve probably spent some time signing up for blog directories. Blog directories are a great way to make blog more findable and increase traffic. It can be kind of a hassle to get setup your first time, but once you’ve got all your accounts set up with the various directories, it should be a breeze to add additional blogs to the directory.
In case you aren’t sure which blog directories you should be using, I ran across a post over at Search Engine Journal titled 20 Essential Blog Directories. There are a few on the list that are not free, but most only require account registration in order to list your blog(s).
Do you use blog directories?

I haven’t used blog directories until now because with Bush Mackel, I’m not targeting keywords and don’t really cater towards organic traffic. But one of my other sites which JUST relaunched today WILL rely very heavily on kw targeting so I may have to look into this stuff. (#):)
I used blog directories when I started out. I think I’ll go take a look at that list and see. Thanks for the reminder buddy
I tried some blog directories when i started blogging . Do you think it is worth to submit my site to them now.
Yeah, guys, I recommend checking that post out. With the exception of a few that cost money, I really think it is great to join these directories. 1-2 directories can easily add 10-15 hits a day to your website. Those could be people that will click ads, etc.
I too had stopped submitting to directories as they didnt bring any traffic. May be I’ll considering submitting to few.
I have never really spent the time to do it but I guess now is as good a tim as any.
Thanks for linking the list, it’s bookmarked and hopefully I will get round to it in the next few days.
@ Nirmal – I’ve gotten a lot of traffic from BlogCatalog on a few of my niche blogs. They are free, so that is a good one to be a member of!
@ Forest – No problem. Glad you found it useful!
Nirmal,
Blog directories aren’t really about getting traffic. Some do provide a little, but that shouldn’t be your goal. Really it’s about getting links with anchor text that you choose. It’s worth the time and effort, at least to get a site off the ground with a few solid links.
